Dr. Gillian Lavik

General Surgeon

Gillian Lavik, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a General Surgeon at Dakota Medical. Her work encompasses most outpatient general surgeries, focusing on breast health, endoscopy, and skin and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Lavik completed her Undergraduate Education at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, and Medical School at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. She completed her surgical residency at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY, an affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. She is board-certified in General Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She has also served as clinical faculty for the University of North Dakota Northwest Campus.

She is a native North Dakotan, having grown up in Rugby, ND, and has a passion for serving North Central North Dakota. She has been working with the University of North Dakota, the North Dakota Cancer Coalition, and ScreenND to work toward solutions to provide colorectal cancer screening services to areas in North Dakota with limited access. Additionally, she has led a regional physician training program, teaching endoscopic skills to help provide much-needed services to rural communities. Nationally, she serves on the American College of Surgeons Health Outreach Program for Equity in Global Surgery Domestic Subcommittee, which promotes domestic volunteerism among surgeons in the US.
